The Calibre 83 was introduced in 1935. Up to 1947. 69,600 was made. 6,000 were used in the WWW Mark 10 military watch. Later the famous cal 89 followed. From the beautifully-done engraving on caseback, this was a gift to a textile worker in Schaffhausen (hometown of IWC) for 26 years of "loyal service." Very cool that the retirement gift was from the local watchmaker. I know that IWC might insist on replacing all older parts to make it “like new”, which is what I would be afraid of.
